Fairy Art - Mixed Media Art of the Fae

 Hello everyone!

Today, I wanted to share my love of the fae with you. I remember when I was little, my mother would read to me fairy tales and nursery rhymes out of the beautifully illustrated "Mother Goose" books. I think my love for fairies (and mermaids) started as a result.

As a young adult, I took as many art classes as I could for electives. I've been teaching myself to paint ever since. I use acrylics, and water color but I have used oil as well. (I think oil is rather messy and you need turpentine to clean brushes so I prefer water color or acrylic.) I also do use mixed media and computer illustration software along with my hand drawn and hand painted art. I think it just brings it to the next level!

Here are a few of my creations that feature one of my favorite subjects:fairies! I know that I am not the only one that loves the lore of fae, and the different realms that they inhabit with elves, dwarves, gnomes, and goblins...so I appreciate anyone that wants to nerd out these things with me.

I think it's important to share our art with the world, even if we face ridicule and even if people don't like it. I know that I enjoy so many different ways of creating, whether computer generated or hand painted. I do a mixture of both because I think both mediums have value. However, I think there's something special about the imperfection of human created art without the aid of computers. The little charming idiosyncrasies, the scale that may not be exactly right, the way something wasn't perfectly blended...all of these things can make the final product a masterpiece. Because it's real. I will never be able to paint as lovely as Monet, or Rembrandt, or Da Vinci but it isn't about being the best. It's about losing myself for hours in something I enjoy and encouraging others to do the same.

Here's a collection of my favorites over the years! Thanks so much for visiting my little corner of world.

                                                                                                                All my gratitude,

                                                        Marissa
