Thanksgiving Ambiance Music - A journey in composing

 Hey there!

So, a few years ago I decided to start learning the acoustic guitar. As a teen I was involved in my school's orchestra, and although violin wasn't really my thing, I did enjoy being able to play music. I decided to start playing the acoustic guitar because I was part of a belly dance troupe (Dance Caravan of Otsego) and we performed to live drums. I thought it would be a great idea to learn this new skill so I could contribute some melodious sounds to the drumming. It's a few years later, and here I am taking a stab at making my own music!

I'm super interested in covering classic rock songs, making my own country/blue grass songs and also creating acoustic ambient music. With the holidays coming up, I was inspired to create some of my own ambient Thanksgiving sounds. Some of them have singing/lyrics and others are just the guitar with nature backgrounds. Either way, I'm having fun!

Daylight Savings was created using an EM, G and D. I did some finger picking and scales and a little bit of Renaissance style of plucking the base E note with another note. It's largely experimental but I truly enjoy what I came up with. When I was creating it, there was a heavy fog and rain outside, we'd turned the clocks back and the temperature had dipped into the chilly forties. It put me in a moody mood and this was what started coming out from my soul. It sounds a bit how November feels. Everyone is slowing down a little bit, we snuggle into bed a little earlier, eat a bit more than we should and just feel a little a dreary inside. Or maybe that's just me. :)

Seaside Autumn is me using G and D in a finger picking pattern and also scales. It's a happy tune that just reminds me of a busy morning, when the sun is shining and it's beautiful outside because you're on the beach in California! So, yeah it is inspired by our morning walks by the ocean when we were on vacation and just having a blast playing in the water.

Crows of November was created using an AM arpeggio, strum and fingerpicking. I came up with the lyrics while imagining a peasant woman from the past, like the 1700's or something, busying herself with afternoon chores and preparing to make the upcoming feast for the colony. I wanted it to sound serious and somber with happy lyrics that give a nod towards all the great things in life like eating, sitting by the fire, dealing with your children, and enjoying nature.

Finally, Gather Round Ye Children is a track about enjoying the Thanksgiving holiday with your family. Merry making around the table, young and old sitting together for laughter and lessons, connecting with relations we haven't seen in awhile, eating fabulous food, praying for the coming year....that's the vibe of this one. :)

I do have a few others that are "works in progress" that I intend to get out this year before the holiday but we'll see! I'm also moving on the Christmas/Yuletide music. So, yippee for that.

I hope you enjoy! Thanks for listening. :)
